Sundays on Broadway curator Cathy Weis with co-curators David Guzman and Zo Williams present an evening of performances by Lysis, Luis Lara Malvacías, and Sakura Shimada.
Lysis’s work is a series of moments within an ongoing and collective practice of freedom forming.
Luis Lara Malvacías’s new work brings together movement, text, and projections to examine darkness through a contemporary lens.
Sakura Shimada’s A letter to Steve, and all the small things matter is about her habit of constantly raising questions. The power of being ordinary and the basic practice of moving attention.

Artists' Bios:
Lysis has, is and will be. Currently, she is an ocean-bred, transdisciplinary caretaker, freedom junkie and nightdancer based in New York, as well as the author of AFTERS (Accessing Freedom Together Everyday in Realtime, Severely) and the mother of Quivas.
Luis A. Lara Malvacías is a Venezuelan-born, New York-based transdisciplinary artist whose body of work includes the creation of events with a strong focus on movement practices. In addition to choreographing and performing, he designs and creates the costumes, sets, and visuals for his works. Malvacías creates solos, duets, and group pieces that have been performed and presented in both conventional venues and unconventional spaces across several countries. His work is presented under the name Luis Lara Malvacías / 3RD CLASS CITIZEN. He has been an artist-in-residence at several institutions in New York, as well as in various countries throughout Europe. He received a 2006 NYFA Fellowship in Choreography and has been awarded grants from the Jerome Foundation, MAP Fund, the Danish Arts Council, and Arts International, among others.
Sakura Shimada studied dance in New York City. She was a Movement Research Artist-in Residence in 2008-09. She has lived in Vermont since 2004, and has been traveling and co-teaching with Daniel Lepkoff all over the world. She is a Feldenkrais practitioner.
